ASHES TO ASHES
Episode #FK3-20 (1st Run)
This episode must air after episode 321 "Francesca"
Third Season (05/10/96)
Written by Phil Bedard and Larry LaLonde
Directed by Jon Cassar
Guest Starring Kathryn Long as Divia, Kristin Lehman as Urs, Ron Obadia as
Hamid Karam
Prologue:
It's present day Egypt, and a grave robber, Hamid, hammers his way into a
sealed tomb as he talks to his brother over a wireless headset. He moves to a
sarcophagus where his brother has assured him there is a treasure and No
legendary curse. He smashes the seal of the Sun God -- Re'-Atum. The broken
sarcophagus top slowly opens and a bright burst of high energy light
envelopes him.
The Story:
Lacroix senses something as he's about to enter the Raven, but he isn't too
concerned. Inside, he finds Vachon and Urs cuddled on the couch. Vachon tells
him that he has come to comfort her. She tells him that she had a dream about
decapitated children and when she awoke, one was standing over her.
Reese and Tracy talk about deranged serial killers. Once again, Nick listens,
knowing they are with a former deranged serial killer. Then, he gets an
anonymous call that there is a corps in the Raven.
Lacroix opens the beer fridge and finds a headless corps. He opens a box,
that was on the floor, and finds Divia's pendant; under that is the head of
Hamid!
Tracy and Nick take Lacroix in for questioning and he is temporally held as a
material witness.
Tracy asks Vachon if Lacroix is a vampire and he tells her No. She talks
about how she felt the presence of evil like she does with him.
The vampire war begins as Divia plans to kill all of Lacroix's friends.
Vachon is the first to be savaged by the ancient one whose blood mixes with
his and causes pain and hallucinations. He has horrifying visions of what
Lacroix did to her and what she did to others. Tracy finds him at the church,
where he's slowly going mad.
Next, she appears out of thin air and attacks Urs as she is riding the
elevator up to talk to Nick about Vachon. The two vampires fight violently
and when the door opens Nick finds Urs' bleeding body.
Her last victim is Lacroix's favorite son, Nicholas. She says it's nothing
personal, then attacks Nick as she did the others, leaving him slashed and
bleeding on the floor.
Now, it's time for Daddy! She flies to the Raven where she tells her
Father/Son what she's done. She lifts a hand scythe high and begins the swing
to separate Lacroix's head from his body.....
Why did Lacroix kill Divia?
Will Vachon die from the attack of the ancient one?
What's Natalie going to do with another vampire body?
Can this be.. our favorite vampire cop.. dead?
Will Lacroix lose his head?
Episode Quote: "She will kill all of you, because of me." -Lacroix
Review **** (of four) Divia is back and she's just a little peeved at Daddy.
The idea of having her eliminate all of Lacroix's vampire friends, so he
would be all alone like she had been for 2000 years, is a good plot to thin
out the cast of characters. Phil and Larry have written a creepy vampire
story and Jon Cassar's direction of actors and camera is top notch.
I actually felt sorry for Lacroix. This season, we've seen him become rather
selective in the evil he allows to be unleashed, but I wonder if he would
have been so concerned twenty years into his career as a vampire? The debate
over whether Lacroix was having his way with Divia has been answered. It
turns out that she was the one with incestuous ideas, but would that have
been enough to warrant the removal of her head. In those days of golden
idols, assorted Gods and a General's pillaging and plundering, I doubt it.
Even so, this is a tense, emotional story.
