Guest Stars: Alan C. Peterson as Christopher Scheer
- A young girl lies lifeless as a madman removes her underwear with a pair
of surgical scissors. --This is my favorite method!
- He carefully marks her neck and hands for a cutting good time.
- Because the trash has already been picked up, he takes the body to the
river and throws it in.
- In the meanwhile; Nick and Tracy chase two dangerous drug dealers.
- Tracy becomes involved in a fire fight--she wins! --Yes, her first kill.
- Tracy becomes depressed over the killing. Nick offers to take her home,
but they are dispatched to the river where the body has been found.
- The girl has lost her head and hands--Tracy can't handle it.
- Tracy is not having a good day; she sees a few days off, given to her by
Cpt. Reese, as a suspension, because she is a female rookie.
- Natalie determines that the girl is dead. Probably killed by someone with
surgical skills.
- Reese looks at the pictures of the victim and begins one of his speeches
about sick perverted killers. Nick's guilt is awakened.
- Nick wants to talk to a Hannibal Lector type, known as the Mortician,
that used to collect body parts. --I got rid of my collection.
- Natalie comes in with an ID sheet on the victim. She worked at an escort
service that reported her missing.
- Tracy overhears the conversation, and decides to check the place out.
- Natalie tries to offer Tracy some advise, but Tracy is determined to
prove herself to the guys.
- Tracy goes undercover at the escort agency.
- Nick goes to see the insane Scheer, who won't talk unless Nick comes into
the cell. Nick gets the guard's heart thumping--and is let in.
- Back at the escort service; Tracy does some snooping while a man watches
her, through a telescope, from across the street.
- Tracy's first job is to meet a man at the Raven. He needs a Trophy Girl
for an awards dinner.
- Back at the asylum, Nick shows Scheer pictures of the dead girl. Scheer
admires the gruesome pictures and wants to keep them.
- Scheer agrees to talk to Nick about insight to the copycat killer, if
Nick can get his online privileges restored. He has an e-male friend,
that is like minded, who uses the screen name Rosebud.
- Scheer senses that Nick is not afraid of him, because he is like him. He
accuses Nick of being a ruthless killer of many. --Not our Nick!
* (Okay Mike... I get it; Scheer , wool, lambs!)
- Scheer's discussion causes Nick to recall when LaCroix wanted to feed on
a beautiful girl, but didn't want to bring her across.
- Vachon and Urs are having a drink at the bar, when Urs sees Tracy pick up
her date. She tells Vachon, who scares the guy off with a little hypno.
- Tracy gives JV heck for blowing her cover. He throws up his hands and
returns to his cocktail umbrella.
- When Tracy gets to her car, it has a flat. She gets help from the copycat
killer who drugs her and takes her to his trophy room.
- Scheer tells Nick about himself and the copycat killer. It is all too
familiar to Nick. --Is that a little angst I see?
- Nick recalls how LaCroix told him that one must take time to prepare and
perfect their victims for the taking; It adds to the pleasure.
- Scheer has compared himself to Nick, but Nick says Scheer was no more
than a taxidermist. --Okay Nick, so you didn't keep any parts in a jar,
but what about all those dead mortals and the vampires you made..Hmmmmm?
- LaCroix uses his talk show to lay a little wisdom on Nick and us. Nick
recalls how he fed on LaCroix's girlfriend so she would not be killed
by Lucien. --Lucien really didn't want her as a trophy through eternity.
- LaCroix gets angry at Nicholas and says, "Intoxicating, wasn't she?"
- Vachon drops into Nick's Cadillac and brings him back to the present.
He tells Nick how he blew Tracy's cover. Nick goes to find out what's up.
- Will Tracy lose her head?
- Is Scheer's internet geek, Rosebud, the copycat killer?
- Will Nick find the madman's trophy room in time?
- Why do we watch this show?
Review *** This episode has too many cliche storylines. We have the cop's
first kill scenario, a psychotic copycat killer, a mad Christopher Scheer
(a Hannibal Lector type) that has the secret of why and who might be the
killer--and therefore must be questioned by Nick. Then there is the female
cop that has to prove herself to the boys, so she takes it upon herself to
go undercover, which puts her in the position of being the next victim.
The parallel back story was, at first viewing, a bit vague. It does make
sense if you follow the story closely--don't go to the kitchen for a
Pop-Tart.
Even so, this is not a bad story. Everything works together, and though
predictable, it does entertain. Vachon and Urs are used as a Desi and Lucy
type comedy relief.
What makes this a three star, rather than a two, is the fine performance of
Alan C. Peterson as Scheer. Good actors seem to be able to make the most of
this type of character. Peterson and Davies do an excellent job with the
*important* storyline; a ruthless serial killer being questioned by another
ruthless serial killer. Of course Nick thinks he is the less evil of the
two. Scheer sees right through Nick and states that they are kindred souls.
Nick is not amused, but you can see that he knows, he may actually be the
eviler. He definitely has the most trophies--thousands of dead victims, not
to mention the vampires that he has created. Yes, this is the story; all
the rest is just a runny water colored backdrop.
