John KapelosJohn Kapelos starred as Nick Knight's partner, Detective Don Schanke, a rough around the edges, wise-cracking homicide detective, in "Forever Knight," a one-hour, action drama produced by Paragon Entertainment Corporation in association with TriStar Television and Germany's Telemnchen, and syndicated domestically by Columbia TriStar Television Distribution.An accomplished stage actor, Kapelos left his home in London, Ontario at the age of 22 to begin his career as a member of Chicago's famed Second City comedy troupe. He appeared in six revues from 1978 to 1984, honing his writing and improvisational skills, before moving to New York to star in Off-Broadway's Village Gate. He then returned to the Windy City when he co-starred in "Vicious" at the Steppenwolf Theatre. John made his feature film debut as the "greasy bohunk" in John Hughes' "Sixteen Candles." He has since appeared in 21 films in the past 12 years, including featured roles in "The Breakfast Club," "Roxanne" with Steve Martin, "Nothing in Common" with Tom Hanks, "The Boost" with James Woods, "Internal Affairs" with Richard Gere and "The Shadow" with Alec Baldwin. On television, John has starred in the NBC pilot "Monterey Jack," which he co-wrote and co-created. He has also appeared in the ABC miniseries "Onassis" and the CBS miniseries "And The Sea Will Tell," in addition to the CBC/NBC co-production "Deadly Betrayal: The Bruce Curtis Story," which won six Canadian Gemini Awards including Best Picture. His episodic television work has included guest-starring roles on "Seinfeld," "The Second Half," "L.A. Law," "Quantum Leap," "Shannon's Deal," "Murder She Wrote," "Matlock" and "Miami Vice." An accomplished writer, John has received a Chicago Emmy and three Clio awards. He is currently working on several screenplays and a musical stage show called "Syd The KARAOKE Kid," in addition to writing and directing an episode of "Forever Knight." |
